Street children are often unheard, misunderstood, and denied their basic rights. They face discrimination, injustice, and marginalisation every day. Laughter Africa is committed to speaking out on their behalf; challenging stigma, raising awareness, and fighting for the dignity and protection every child deserves.
Speaking Up for Street Children
Our Campaigning Work
Laughter Africa supports a wide range of campaigns and issues affecting the street children in Sierra Leone. These issues address gender-based violence, police brutality, child combatants, or any other injustice impacting vulnerable young people. We also promote international campaigns that support street-connected children across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
We Won’t Stay Silent
Whenever we see injustice, we speak out regardless of the issue or the consequences. By standing together, we can create real, lasting change for street children everywhere.

International Day of the Street Child
We actively support global awareness efforts, including the International Day of the Street Child, which highlights the challenges street children face and amplifies their voices.

Supporting the UN General Comment No. 21
Laughter Africa also backs the global campaign led by the Consortium for Street Children to implement General Comment No. 21 — a groundbreaking UN framework that requires governments to protect the rights of street-connected children. If fully implemented, it would transform their access to justice, services, and dignity. Supporters are encouraged to get involved by urging governments to adopt the General Comment and follow the “four steps to equality” recommended by CSC. Change will take time, but every action brings us closer to a fairer world for street-connected children.
